Of the hunting area.
Through negotiations with adjoining concession holders to the south, Booysen Safaris has secured the exclusive hunting quota and hunting rights to an unfenced area that comprises more than 25 000 acres of un spoilt big game hunting terrain. This hunting area borders the National Parks of South Africa as well.
Hunting on this concession is “fair chase” at its best. Being on an unfenced concession, the game roaming on the concession is totally free range. The terrain can best be described as wooded sandveld savannah with patches of Mopani and acacia veld. There are areas that consist of dense brush where species like Suni and Nyala occur. This diversity of habitat accommodates a large variety of species ranging from Elephant and predators to pigmy antelopes like Sharpe’s Grysbuck. The average elevation is approximately 380m above sea level. There are also several natural pans in the area which attract game where we have established boreholes/wells to supplement them during the dry season.
Due to the size of the hunting area the hunting party will normally begin hunting early in the morning. Typically, the vehicle is used to locate fresh spoor along the roads or at a waterhole, from where the hunting party will track the animals on foot. Comfortable walking can be expected as the terrain is reasonably flat, and small hills.
One must be prepared to walk several miles per day in pursuit of your trophy, particularly in the case of buffalo and elephant. Whenever possible, lone bulls and bull groups are tracked, preferring to leave herd animals undisturbed.
Kambaku camp, constructed on the concession comprises of 3 chalets, entertainment area. There is also a kitchen, laundry. Each chalet is comfortably furnished and has a en suite bathroom. Power is supplied by means of solar panels and batteries. A 12v to 220v converter is provided in the entertainment area for the charging of cameras, etc. Water for the camp is pumped from a deep borehole/well and is suitable for drinking and everyday use.
